Cheshire County Department of Corrections in Keene has opportunities for per diem LPNs and RNs

The LPN/RN is responsible for providing professional nursing care to inmates within the scope of administrative guidelines and in accordance with established policies and procedures.

Duties include:
•Checking inmate charts and daily schedules for specific treatment and medication orders.
•Making rounds, checking and giving medications and treatments.
•Providing emergency treatment when required; notifying supervisor of emergency and carrying out physician orders.
•Accompanying physician on rounds and assisting with examinations and treatments as necessary.
•Notifying supervisor and/or physician of changes in inmate conditions and any unusual or abnormal observations.

Requirements include:
•Knowledge of nursing equivalent to completion of an Associate’s degree in Nursing and one to three years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
•Possession of a license as a Licensed Practical Nurse/Registered Nurse by the State of New Hampshire.
•Knowledge in the theories and practice of nursing, especially in assessing physical and emotional needs and providing emergency care.
•The ability to be empathetic when dealing with a variety of inmate health concerns.
•The ability to be detail-oriented and handle multiple tasks.
